Keith Berry Grabs LS Drag Radial Record With Sinister Corvette

[1]

When Keith Berry stripped his popular C5 Corvette down in the fall of 2010 to embark on a new journey into the Outlaw Drag Radial and Outlaw 275 world with a state-of-the-art makeover, he vacated the intense IRS world record battle that he’d been in the midst of that season. As the WOOOO! machine underwent its transformation, Berry watched from the sidelines as the record books were ratcheted up – as were the performance marks by the LSX contingent – but knowing fully well he’d be back on top when his sinister new ride was complete. Sans the IRS, of course.

An unfortunate testing incident set back his plans last fall, but Berry placed his name back in the record books at Lights Out 4 at the South Georgia Motorsports Park over the weekend when he drove his ‘Vette to the LS and small block Drag Radial records with a killer 4.400 at 174.66 mph lap, following a 1.155 short time and a 2.983 half track clocking.

Berry’s Bell Chassis-built Corvette features power from a 468 cubic inch RHS tall deck bullet topped with Mozez heads and fed by a pair of 88mm turbochargers, delivering an estimated 3,200 horsepower to the 315 drag radial tires.

Said Berry via the Yellow Bullet forums: “Back home and off to work I go but man what a weekend. Huge thanks to Bell Chassis works, Proline, Petty, and sponsors. The car is wicked fast. I think everybody will be shocked at Holly Springs. [Steve] Petty hasn’t leaned on it yet…..”
