Road America Scheduled To Host The Corvette World Tribute

Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin has a long history with Chevy’s flagship sports car, and it’s a history of racing and parts development that goes back to the 4.08-mile track’s initial opening in 1955. Road America’s president and general manager, George Bruggenthies, explains, “We’re excited to celebrate this longstanding association at the second annual Corvette World Tribute and equally excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our Corvette Corral.”

Truth be told, America’s Corvette legacy probably could not have continued for some 60 years without Road America, as the Wisconsin track has been the performance parts testing ground and the testing site of corporate-proposed future models almost as long as the nameplate has been in existence.

The second annual Corvette World Tribute is scheduled to take place later this month, August 19 and according to Corvette Blogger’s Mitch Talley it is to be a festive Sunday that “will be marked with a variety of special events.”

Chevy Product Marketing Director of midsize and performance cars, Russ Clark, celebrates the historic union that the Corvette marquee and Road America have created. “It’s fitting that two icons of American racing, Chevrolet and Road America, have joined forces. Road America is known as ‘America’s National Park of Speed,’ and Corvette is America’s iconic sports car.”

Some of the motoring activities that will make up the Renaissance of all things ‘Vette include slalom courses and an autocross, a show complete with People’s Choice awards, track sessions for touring and race-prepped ‘Vettes, Karting Challenge and a road rally.

Needless to say, the second annual Corvette World Tribute will be a celebration of America’s sports car, but it will equally celebrate the kind of collaboration that has and continues to make high performance in America possible, while making it even better with each new generation.
