For those unfamiliar, Rick Hendrick is well known for his roll as the NASCAR team, Hendrick Motorsports, owner; as well as a proud Chevrolet dealership owner. Recently he took delivery of a couple 2015 Z06 Corvettes. We also have seen a few pictures of Z06s surfacing around the country, and would like to examine how they’re shaping up thus far. GM is definitely helping to add some extra excitement to the holiday season this year!

Hendrick apparently has quite a love for black cars, as this will be the third VIN #001 Corvette to enter his collection dressed in black. He also purchased the first 2014 Stingray coupe and first 2014 Stingray convertible. The black car will probably end up in his collection similar to the first two Stingrays, and it is believed he purchased VIN #003 for personal use. Now that is a Corvette fan!

Hendrick was quoted saying, “I’ve been waiting a long time for this car. It’s just like Christmas for me and I love to come here. When you see the car, you see the Museum, and I get to go in the plant and hopefully drive it off the line, it just makes it complete. I remember every single visit, I meet someone new. I meet some Corvette enthusiast, whether he’s from Australia or Alabama and we all have one thing in common, we love the Corvettes.”

This opportunity was won on the block at a Barrett-Jackson auction, in Palm Beach back in April. By paying $1 million dollars, he was also rewarded with the opportunity to purchase the first convertible which will be appearing at another Barrett-Jackson auction held in January. It should be noted that all of the proceeds were donated to the Karmanos Cancer Institute of Michigan, and we commend their generosity.

Hendrick said that the Corvette Z06 is, “a piece of art… I just can’t believe that GM can build this kind of quality for the price and being a dealer, I’m sure glad we got the Corvette.”

We think Mr. Hendrick hit the nail right on the head with his comments, as the standard Stingray has proven to have a remarkable level of performance and quality period, let alone at such a price point. For the performance gains associated with the Z06 we continue to be even more impressed with the Corvette. Well done GM, keep up the good work!

Thanks to our friends at Corvette Blogger and National Corvette Museum Insurance,  we also found some pictures of a new 2015 Z06 painted with the all new Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic option. You may have noticed that this Z06 is also infact a convertible.

For those more familiar with current availability, you know that the convertibles have not yet been put into normal production. Though several have been produced for a few different avenues and destinations, and this is one of them. While it doesn’t appear to have been fitted with the Z07 package, it clearly has a carbon fiber front splitter with the small winglets and a large rear spoiler on the deck-lid, as it may have the stage two aerodynamics package.
