2015 Z06 Crashes In The Rain But Was It Avoidable?

021115_2bBy now you are probably familiar with our weekly installment of Wrecked Vette Wednesday (WVW) in which we show varying generations of Corvettes that have been written off by their insurer as total losses. We then show these cars at various yards throughout the country as they await auction and discuss if it truly is beyond reasonable repair or not.

This 2015 Z06 did not make the cut for WVW, thankfully, but it will need some repair nonetheless. A member known as “b4z” on CorvetteForum posted the pictures, mentioning he saw the car sitting at a Hendrick dealership in South Carolina.

Later on, another member under the name “soulsea” added that he received a phone call from a salesperson that works at that same dealership to tell him about the car along with some advice about what not to do with your new Z06.

021115_3bAccording to the salesperson, the owner of the black Vette only had the car of a day or two at the time of the accident. For those who have driven or can appreciate what a 650 hp car is like, you understand that the driver was probably not yet accustomed to such a machine. For one reason or another the driver ended up driving the Z06 in the rain, and while it may not be an ideal vehicle to drive through weather, it is certainly manageable considering the advanced control systems onboard, there is even a “Weather Mode” available should you prefer.

Unfortunately, that all went right out the window when the driver selected “Track Mode”. The car doesn’t look great at the moment, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed, and luckily nobody was seriously injured. So remember, a wet highway and a race track are not one in the same!
