Chevrolet invited Corvette Online out to the beautiful grounds of the Spring Mountain Motor Resort in the high desert of Pahrump, NV to spend some time behind the wheel of the all new 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. We were able to do around 100 miles out on the public roads as well as some track time to really see what this new Z06 is made of.
Along with the opportunity to drive the new Z06 we were able to spend some time with a handful of the engineers and those responsible for helping develop the Z06 into the incredible car it is today. Some of the information shared with us about development and testing was pretty wild, the new Z06 is a true feat of engineering.
We were able to utilize the PDR systems in the cars which was an especially nice addition to the Z07 package equipped cars that we drove on the race track. The acceleration of the Z06 is pretty face melting regardless of which gearbox you select. But when you combine the power with the CCM (Carbon Ceramic Brakes), the sheer grip of the car, and downforce that many dedicated road race cars go without, you truly get the feeling that this is a race car you’re allowed drive on street.
We have much more to come from our experience at Spring Mountain with Chevrolet, so stay tuned for more in-depth coverage accompanied by video footage of the Z06 and further insight from the minds at Chevrolet that helped to build this incredible machine.
