Is there a single superhero more American than Captain America? Sure, Superman makes a good case, and Batman has perhaps the most-American backstory. But Captain America has “America” right there in his name, so he pretty much wins by default. The Captain America movie [3] was also ridiculously successful, and has spawned a sequel that sees the time-traveling hero struggle to cope with modern day society.
Apparently one of those coping mechanisms will be the 2014 Corvette Stingray [4], as the Daily Mail [2] captured these pictures from on-set at a film shoot in Washington D.C. Stars Chris Evans [5] and Scarlett Johansson [6] were seen on set round about the new ‘Vette, which should get its fair share of screen time too.

Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier [8] will see Evans, playing super soldier Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, work to fit in with a society he doesn’t understand. Johansson will work to acclimate Rogers into the 21st century, and the “Winter Soldier [9]” in the title likely refers to Captain America’s friend Bucky Barnes, who in comic canon is also frozen, recovered, and brainwashed by the Soviets, becoming a ruthless assassin . It’s another Hollywood superhero movie, you can probably guess what happens from here.
The only reason we’re interested is because seeing the Corvette C7 on set may indicate that this is the first film we’ll actually see the new ‘Vette in. GM knows all too well how the movie industry can affect car sales; giving Captain America a Corvette, especially one aimed at younger buyers, could help sales. It’s not like the Captain is going to drive a Prius [10], you know?
