2011 Supersonic Blue GS Serves As Brickyard 400 Pace Car

Diehard NASCAR fans at this year’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway are sure to enjoy the 2011 Grand Sport Corvette that will serve as the pace car. Goalie for the United States Women’s Soccer Team, Hope Solo, will be the first woman to ever serve as an official pace car driver at this event. Corvette Blogger [2]covered the unveiling of the Indy Grand Sport. Solo will be the third woman in history to serve as an official pace car driver at a NASCAR Cup Series event.  This particular Corvette features striking Supersonic Blue paint accented by red Chevron stripes and silver hood accenting.

Chevrolet decided to make certain that this Corvette would stand out from the vibrantly hued and sponsored pack of “stock” cars. Being that this is the 18th year of the Brickyard 400, Chevrolet decided that vehicle that would serve as the official pace car needed to stand apart from the rest. The unveiling ceremony included GM drivers, Jimmie Johnson (the 2010 Sprint Cup Champion), Jamie McMurray and Tony Stewart. One lucky person also participated in the unveiling thanks to winning a contest through a local radio station. NASCAR and Corvette fans should make sure to watch Solo participate as the first female pace car driver at the Brickyard and enjoy the beauty of this 2011 Grand Sport this Sunday.
