Many of us have dreamt about catching a hidden glimpse of that one special car nestled away in a detached garage, those ideal Barn Finds. Stowed away for decades, hidden from people and hopefully the elements, Corvette Blogger shared one such dream when Stephen B stumbled across a red 1965 Corvette Fuelie convertible. While the shack it was living in did a reasonable job of protecting it, it posed some challenges when Stephen began to remove it.
The vehicle had been in storage for 30 years and took some work to remove it once Stephen purchased the car from its owner. The barn, or shack, that the Vette was sitting in was on the verge of collapse. Surly you wouldn’t want to cause any careless damage after being protected for so long.
There was years of debris blocking access to the car amongst countless torn and tattered blue tarps. Reportedly, the structure had to be nearly deconstructed in order to remove the ’65 from its hiding spot. But a few hours and helping hands later, it emerged and pleasantly, the majority of the car was enact.
The original motor and fuel injection system were missing from the car but as you can see, most of the car was there and in stock condition some forty-nine years later. The owner, Stephen, has plans to do a full frame off restoration but did not release any information for what power-plant he will be fitting his new ride with. We are sure that this ’65 will be beautifully restored, and can hope she receives a seemingly period correct “factory engine” or some hidden, modern muscle. Enjoy your build Stephen!
