1,738 HP Vette Runs 214 MPH At Texas Mile

In today’s racing scene there are quite a few different racing styles to choose from to get your adrenaline fix.  Some of the top events include drag racing, SCCA racing, drifting, and the ever so popular Texas Mile.

The Texas Mile has become a very popular style of racing among all types of vehicles from jet powered cars to motorcycles to your mom’s station wagon.  The objective is to run a standing mile as fast as your vehicle will allow.

We found ls1muscle and his turbo Corvette over on Ls1tech.com to be a new top contender for the Texas mile.  This beast of a car starts from an already powerful base, a 2008 Corvette Z06.  In order for this car to run a targeted speed above 200 mph some modifications had to be performed.

They started with one of the best engine blocks for boosted applications, the RHS engine block. Next they threw in some bulletproof internals including a Callies Magnum crankshaft, Oliver billet rods, Diamond pistons and finished it off with a set of Trick Flow CNC ported 235cc 6-bolt cylinder heads.  While this was a great start they needed something that would get them the amount of power that would allow them to be successful in the mile run.  They selected the Turbonetics 106mm turbocharger that was custom fit in the rear of the Corvette, which would allow the engine bay to stay cool.

Putting all this power to the ground was accomplished using a RPM built TR6060 6 speed transmission and a new set of upgraded axles and differential.

When the car was finished they strapped the engine to a dyno and pulled out an amazing 1,738 HP at only 22 pounds of boost and still aren’t running at its full boost setting.  After everything was installed and tuned the car was off to the Texas mile.  The first pass dialed in at 207 MPH, backed by an impressive 214 MPH at only 11 PSI.  Stay tuned for some impressive results from this rocket ship.
