Our friends at Holley Performance Products are making life a little easier for owners of vehicles equipped with GM’s Gen V LT engine here at the SEMA Show with the the rollout of a new LT accessory drive that, among other things, creates a provision for running a hydraulic power steering pump rather than a manual steering rack.
Holley has taken its accessory drive product already available for LS engines and devised a set of adapter plates to fit the LT engines that delivers an upgrade to the conventional, centrally-located LS water pump configuration, and works in conjunction with an OEM LT1 truck harmonic balancer. With it, one can utilize a compact sixth-generation, Corvette-style hydraulic power steering pump.
As Holley’s Keith Jessee points out, with the original LS accessory drive design serving as the primary makeup of this new drive kit, if one were to swap to an LT1 engine in the future, they can re-use the bracket by removing the adapter plates and mounting their steering pump back up, saving one some additional cost outlay in the swap process.
Holley will have the LT accessory drives available in Q1 of next year.
