K&N is known for providing enthusiasts with high-performance aftermarket intake solutions, and continues to innovate new components. We had the pleasure of speaking with Lucio Tapia from K&N, who explained how the company continues to serve its customers through a wide range of options. In fact, K&N provides aftermarket-solutions for over 65-percent of vehicles manufactured today, including larger passenger vehicles.
In addition to the BlackHawk line, K&N also continues to offer its high-performance air intake systems, and provides reusable replacement cabin air-filters with the same warranty as its intake assemblies for most applications.
Tapia also explained the design of its diesel-specific solutions, which differ from the other intake assemblies. “Most enthusiasts aren’t aware that diesel filters are manufactured differently, he said. “They require more filter material, which equates to about six-layers versus the normal four layers used. The weave of the filter is also different; it’s a tighter weave to handle tighter tolerances. With diesel products, you can expect an increase of 50 percent more material used, which increases efficiency.”
K&N’s goal for the 2016 is to provide enthusiasts with street legal components that are legal in all 50 U.S. states. Tapia comments, “K&N is currently the industry leader in C.A.R.B. approved components. We received the most E.O. numbers in a 12-month period for 2015, and we plan to increase that for 2016,” Tapia said.
