JBA Headers has been hard at work on new products they are showcasing at SEMA 2015. This year’s efforts center around a number of new exhaust applications: high-quality 304 stainless steel headers for the C6 and C7 Corvettes, and new Cat4Ward shorty headers for the Fifth Gen 6.2-liter Camaro and 2015-16 Mustang.
The Corvette headers feature a new set-up for JBA, with an eye on improving performance substantially.
“These are a four-into-two-into-one design that is very unique and makes a lot of horsepower. This is a competition-only design that is completely polished … pre-polished and polished again after assembly,” says Jim Hairston, director of Marketing and Product Development at Pertronix.
JBA’s Cat4Ward headers — their emissions-friendly lineup — includes two new headers this year. One, for the 2015-16 5.0-liter Mustang platform, is very similar to the company’s offerings for the older Coyote engine.
The other is designed specifically for the 2010-14 6.2-liter Camaro and will mate right up with the existing catalyst-equipped mid-pipe in those vehicles.
Building products that have emissions-friendly C.A.R.B. Executive Order exemptions for the Cat4Ward line is a large and very expensive undertaking for the company, but provides consumers that are not racing their vehicles with peace of mind come emissions-testing time — while still providing a horsepower and torque boost to the consumer.
“We put a lot of work into fit and finish,” says Hairston. “The most popular finish is the metallic-ceramic, but we also have a high-temp black coating now available that is more reasonably priced for someone on a budget.”
