Since 1962, the folks at Kooks Headers have been in business to offer vehicles the proper exhaust components for better performance and looks. At this year’s SEMA Show, the veteran exhaust company came with its best products in tow to showcase them and talk to the aftermarket world at large.
We met with director of sales and marketing Chris Clark to discuss what all was next on the table of big, cool, performance-minded parts for the new crop of 2015 cars. “The 2015 Mustang had just come out, and we were able to get an initial prototype right before the show,” said Clark. “We made a 1 3/4-inch and 1 7/8-inch header with a three-inch collector, and we have a catted connection pipe version with our ultra high-performance catalytic converters.”
Clark continued, “What we’re doing is we’re either connecting these right to the factory exhaust system without cutting or welding, or we can take these headers and retrofit them into our complete three-inch exhaust system, available in either an X-pipe or H-pipe. We’re taking preorders for them right now, and will be shipping them off before the end of the year.”
Meanwhile, for the 2014 C7, long-tube headers are the order of the day. “These come in 1 7/8-inch or two-inch varieties, and have a stainless steel X-pipe with either ultra high-performance cats or high-flow cats,” said Clark. “No welding, no cutting, and we supply customers with all the necessary hardware to make the installation.”
We could almost imagine the performance gains and aggressive exhaust notes right there in the booth, whether it was the next-generation Mustang or current-generation Corvette.
