SEMA 2013: Weld Racing Introduces Two New Sports Car Wheels

IMG_9819 [1]When you mention Weld Racing [2] to most people, they remember two things: quality wheels, and drag racing. While both of those are indeed what Weld is known for, it’s not the limit of their wheel selection. Weld Racing also has wheels for circle track cars, muscle cars and even trucks.

This year at SEMA, Weld brought out another contender in their arsenal of quality wheels – this time aimed at the sports car market. The introduced us to the first two wheels in the GT-S line: the Riverside, and the Speed 10. These three piece, fully forged wheels combine great looks and titanium hardware to put together a wheel that brings a new segment into the Weld family.

Chris Bovis, Vice President of Marketing at Weld Racing, said, “We currently have 15 applications for these wheels, with plans to increase the line further. These wheels were designed for the sports car market so we can expand our wheels into other areas.” The wheels are currently available in 20-inch sizes, with either a brushed, black or gray shell. The wheel centers are available in black or gray, and that makes these wheels look good on just about any color car out there.

Bovis said the wheels will be available later this year, or by Q1 of next year, and currently fit cars like the Cadillac CTS-V, ZL1 Camaro, Z06 Corvette, Mustang GT500, and a few imports including the Nissan GTR, BMW M3, and Porsche 991, to name a few.

While these new sports car wheels don’t look like anything else that Weld has shown us, they do show us that Weld Racing is ready to expand to cover more segments of the automotive industry with their leading-edge designs and technology. Keep an eye out for the Riverside or the Speed 10 to be available soon, and visit the Weld Racing web site [2] for more information about Weld and what they have to offer.
