SEMA 2013: Flowmaster Mufflers Introduces The Super HP-2 Muffler

IMG_9946 [1]Flowmaster Mufflers [2] has been celebrating 30 years as one of the leaders in the performance exhaust industry. Always on the edge of technology, they have introduced an updated and improved version of the HP-2 laminar flow muffler called the Super HP-2. Unlike most conventional mufflers, the Super HP-2 is a square muffler with very little bulk to it on the outside, but lots of performance and technology on the inside.

The square design was intentional, as the Super HP-2 is designed more for the hot rod or street rod crowd. The benefits of this muffler include a ceramic shield inside the muffler that absorbs heat, rather than sound, to keep the outside temperatures of the muffler to a minimum – roughly about 250 degrees. This lower temperature makes the muffler a perfect choice for the street rodder who wants to tuck the muffler up inside the frame rails to hide it, without worry of the transfer of heat to the floor pan and on to the interior of the car.

Even though the muffler was designed for street rods, the applications are many, according to Regional Sales Manager Mark Emerson. “We’ve seen this muffler not only on street rods, and musclecars, but because of its smaller outside dimensions and low heat transfer, we’ve seen people use them for other types of motorsports, as well,” Emerson said.

The Super HP-2 is available now, and you can get it from Flowmaster Mufflers. For this, and other Flowmaster products and exhaust systems, check out their web site [2] – and then check out this 1965 Ford Galaxy fromĀ Kindig-it Design [6] that’s wearing a pair of Super HP-2 mufflers, below.
