SEMA 2012: Wilwood Puts a Stop to Your Progress, On Track or Street

This year at SEMA, we got to see some amazing brake hardware from Wilwood [2], a company synonymous with world-class binders.

A prime example is this W4A Big Brake rear brake kit – not only does it incorporate Wilwood’s radial mount four piston W4A calipers and vented 14-inch by 1.10 inch rotors, but it also has provisions for an OEM-style internal drum parking brake. The days of having to give up street-friendly features like that in order to have race-level stopping power on your daily driver are a thing of the past.

For the ultimate in fade-free performance, Wilwood offers the W6A Big Brake kit with carbon ceramic rotors. Radial mount 6-piston calipers loaded with performance compound pads grip 14-inch by 1.25 inch C/SiC straight-vane rotors.

[7]At the other end of the brake lines, Wilwood was showing off their bottom-hinged pedal setup that not only incorporates a hydraulic clutch pedal, a brake pedal with dual master cylinders and adjustable bias, but an integrated throttle pedal as well. The brake and clutch are set up with a nominal 5.25-1 ratio, and the frame is constructed from aluminum, with the pedals fabricated from high strength steel.
