SEMA 2012: We’re Off And Running…

The whole Power Automedia team is on the ground in beautiful, elegant Las Vegas, Nevada for the 2012 SEMA show, and we will be bringing you highlights and videos all week long as we prowl the miles of aisles here at the convention center. Today was move-in day, and we got a chance to sneak onto the show floor a little early and see what we have to look forward to for the next four days. Here’s a preview…

Of course, last week's big news was the unveiling of the new Gen V small block Chevy, dubbed the LT1. GM had their parts wall already up, showing some of the components in detail, but we haven't had a chance to lay hands on the complete engine yet.

Also on display in GM's booth is the LS5.5R race engine that powers the C6.R. The data card on the engine stand says it makes 485 horsepower at 580 RPM, but we're pretty sure that's a misprint and they're missing a zero there...

Another bit of breaking news from last week was ProCharger's new variable ratio supercharger drive. Here's the unit mounted to a LS3 under the hood of a 5th Gen Camaro - a pretty tidy fit, from the looks of it. We'll be bringing you more info on this groundbreaking system this week.

We got a sneak preview of a few new products from COMP Performance - there's some cool stuff for anyone thinking of going from a carburetor to fuel injection...

Here's one solution to the problem of showing off your supercharger without ruining the looks of the car by having the hood open.

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has partnered up with Karl Kustoms to add a little throwback styling to the C6 in their booth. Love it or hate it, you're pretty much guaranteed to have an opinion!

That’s going to do it for tonight – We’ll have plenty more tomorrow, once the carpets are all unrolled and the crates are out of the aisles. Keep an eye on all the Power Automedia digital magazines this week for all the good stuff from SEMA 2012!
