SEMA 2012: Toyo Proxes Tires – Performance with No Regrets

You wouldn’t buy a new car without test-driving it first, would you? But when it comes to the number one factor in how your car performs, the part that directly connects you to the road, you usually go in with no first hand knowledge of what you’re getting. What if you could test drive a set of street tires for 500 miles or 45 days, and if you don’t love them, bring them back for a refund of everything including the charges for mounting and balancing?

We got a good look at this family of high-performance rubber at the 2012 SEMA show, thanks to a guided tour of the Toyo booth from Jay Jones. With the exception of competition tires and the Proxes R1R, all the Proxes line is eligible for the “No Regrets” trial offer. That includes all-season, summer, and ultra-high performance models, so no matter what you’re driving, there’s a performance Proxes tire for you.

Proxes T1R – Ultra High Performance Summer Tire

  • Available in 15″-22″ sizes
  • V and Y speed rated
  • UTQG 280 AA A

This tire is designed for high end sports sedans and coupes. The unique tread pattern and increased silica in the tread compound provide improved wet performance without compromising dry grip.

Proxes T1 Sport – Ultra High Performance Summer Tire

  • Available in 17″-20″ sizes
  • Y and (Y) speed rated
  • UTQG 240 AA A

The T1 Sport has a more traditional tread design that gives outstanding cornering, precise steering response, and quick braking in wet or dry conditions. It offers a 20,000 mile treadwear warranty (10,000 in staggered rear fitments).

Proxes 4 Plus – Ultra High Performance All-Season Tire

  • Available in 16″-20″ sizes
  • V, W, and Y speed rated
  • M&S rated
  • UTQG 560 A A

This all-season performance tire offers a treadwear warranty as high as 50,000 miles, and Jones points out that more than 90% of the different sizes of this tire are made in the USA at Toyo’s Georgia plant.

Proxes 1 – Max Performance Summer Tire

  • Available in 18″-19″ sizes
  • Y speed rated
  • UTQG 240 AA A

Toyo’s most technologically advanced tire, with an asymmetrical tread compound that features an outside engineered for cornering, with an inside optimized for braking.
