SEMA 2012: American Racing Headers Covers the Classics and More

American Racing Headers [1] made news late last year by having the first 50-state legal “shorty” headers for the 5th Gen Camaro SS, receiving their EO number from the California Air Resources Board in January of this year. That part number added to the long list of quality stainless steel exhaust products ARH offers for late model cars and trucks.

ARH headers feature 304 stainless construction, hand-ported inlets, 3/8-inch thick TIG welded flanges, and merge collectors with scavenger spikes.

To get the same kind of quality, you’d need to spend a couple thousand dollars for a custom built pair of headers – Nick Filippedes

Though they’re best known for their contributions to that part of the market, if you scratch ARH’s owner Nick Filippedes, you’ll find he bleeds whatever color Oldsmobile guys bleed. That’s led to an interest in building parts for classic musclecars; Filippedes says, “There’s no problem finding headers for them, unless you are looking for high-quality stainless ones…”

This year, ARH is expanding their line to include some of the most iconic cars of the musclecar era:

…and of course, the aforementioned Olds classics. Filippedes says that Pontiacs are next. “To get the same kind of quality, you’d need to spend a couple thousand dollars for a custom built pair of headers,” he explains. ARH is also building complete header-back exhaust systems for select musclecar applications as well.
