SEMA 2011: Wiseco To Unveil Junkyard Dog Series Forged Pistons

These Junkyard series pistons will allow a individual to retrofit the application with a forged piston that will be capable to support a turbo, supercharged, or nitrous system.

Now-a-days when you visit a car show you can’t help but see some type of LS conversion. One of the popular avenues is to go to a local junkyard or recycling yard and hunt out a trucks LS engine. They are affordable, have great durability, and offer a great starting point for any build. The majority of the time these builds are very budget conscious and are well planned out, because they have to be. They are budget-minded builds.

A popular choice is to outfit these engines with a forged piston that is capable of handling a bolt on supercharger or turbo. But the costs of these pistons can usually set a build back quite a few paychecks. But now these style builds have another option new for 2012 from Wiseco. The new Junkyard Dog Series Forged Pistons are available for the 5.3 and 6.0L LS motors and will offer quite the savings.

“Essentially what we would like to do is offer a piston for the guy that wants to take an old engine from the recycling yard in the 5.3 or 6.0L applications, and we’re going to be offering a 9-1 and 11-1 compression ratios,”Vic Ellinger of Wiseco told us. “This will allow someone to retrofit the application with a forged piston that will be capable to support a turbo, supercharged, or nitrous system, as well as the naturally aspirated application.”
