SEMA 2011: Auto Meter Products Custom Shop, Have It Your Way!

Even with the extensive line of gauges offered by Auto Meter, there is always requests for “one off” or a custom style gauges. Autometer’s Director of Social Media, Joseph Mills explained, “We’ve always gotten special requests and while we’ve always worked with our customers to provide them exactly what they want, but there were limitations in what we could do and the process wasn’t as easy as it should have been. We knew that we could do it better so we came up with a program that allows customers to design their own gauges.”

We knew we could do it better.

“While we’ve always worked with our customers to provide them the exact product they needed,” said Mills. “There were limitations in what we could do and the process wasn’t as easy as it should have been.”

According to Mills, “There are over 14 trillion combinations of Auto Meter gauges in the ampcustomshop.com program, and that number is continuing to grow.” The online design program allows users to design their own style gauges and see the results before placing an order. They can also see the pricing at each step and with each option,” Mills stated.

“We are pretty proud of this program. It took 17 people working 7 days a week since may to perfect it,” added Mills.

Truth is, with 14 trillion combinations, you are only limited by your imagination. Auto Meter even has an instrument gallery that can provide inspiration for those customers that run into an artistic roadblock.

Mills told us that the goal of the program was multi-fold:

  • Getting the custom look that the customers want
  • A product that customers can count on day in and day out
  • Built to Auto Meter’s Standards using the same components found on dragstrips and racetracks for over 50 years
  • Assembled by skilled technicians in Sycamore, Illinois
  • Backed by Auto Meter commitment to their customers

With the release of the Auto Meter Products Custom Shop, car builders can have it their way, with the same internal components that they are already familiar with.
