MSD 6A & 6AL Go Digital

[1]

The old faithful MSD [2] 6A and 6AL ignition boxes went from analog to digital this season and the unveiling was at the 2010 SEMA Show.  We talked with MSD’s Todd Ryden about the change.  “We took a lot of input from our customers and spent some valuable time in the R & D department on this upgrade.  We even asked our customers if they wanted the ignition box smaller or wanted us to change the color.  At the same time, we were conducting tests in the R & D department to come up with the perfect blend of what our customers wanted and what we could do to upgrade an already great ignition system.  Our digital 6A & 6AL is the result of that process.”

So what MSD ended up with is an advanced version of the stalwartly powerhouse that we have come to know and love.  It is unmistakably MSD with a similarly designed box but with a slightly lower and sleeker housing.  Microprocessor control handles the firing and rev limiting, and the power draw is even less than before, even with the higher output.

Features of the Digital 6A & 6AL Ignition Boxes:

We give MSD a lot of props for keeping all the things that make an MSD 6A series the beloved ignition box to all hot rodders and gear heads, and at the same time improving the output and wiring a new look with the wiring connector.  The MSD 6A and 6AL lives.  Long live the King.
