In particular applications the amount something weighs matters. Burns Stainless LLC has come up with a way to drop weight for exhaust diffusers, letting customers get away from the added weight of exhaust tips.

Burns Stainless LLC now has its “No Holds Barred” (NHB) exhaust muffler system for the Z06 and ZR-1 (2006 to 2013) C6 Chevrolet Corvette. The kit sheds 25 pounds off of the stock muffler system.

No tips needed in this exhaust system.

Vince Roman talked about the exit diffusers, “We did not want to just go with a set of tips because they are just added weight, there is no function. With this style of diffuser we have reduced the amount of weight on the system.”

The NHB exhaust system is constructed from U.S.-made lightweight ASTM 269 18 gauge 304 stainless steel tubes and TIG-welded with argon-packpurge for maximum strength and durability. The NHB system is equipped with standard with two ultra lightweight 4.5-inch OD mufflers. Burns Stainless LLC also has other mufflers available for the kit.

These diffusers slow the exhaust gas velocity to help entrain the exhaust into the wake of the car. It is great to see a company paying attention to something so small, but in the end a part that can still drop weight of the vehicle.
