PRI 2014: FAST Introduces Modifiable LSXr Intake Manifolds

FAST_01The race-minded attendees at PRI 2014 don’t come for the glitz and glamour one finds at the SEMA Show. Here, folks are more interested in how the parts they buy enhance performance over how they enhance aesthetics. The minds at Fuel Air Spark Technology (FAST) nevertheless found a way to do both with their new intake manifolds, aimed at LS engine builders with combinable traits to make mixing and matching setups the new standard.

FAST_03We interviewed Kevin Winstead to help us understand this product. “These are based on our current architecture for the 102-millimeter LSXr intake manifold design,” he said. “Here at PRI, we’ve debuted different runners that will allow users to move the RPM range where the engine needs to operate.”

As an example, Winstead imagined a racer who wanted to see gains higher up the rev range than what he was used to. “He wants to go from 6,200 RPM to 6,500 RPM, and he can get there with our High HP model,” said Winstead. “This affords him a much higher peak, and when he’s ready for the next step, he can shift to the Race model, with straighter, shorter runners to handle 7,000-plus RPM and the 30-plus horsepower gains.”

FAST_04The modular design of the LSXr comes from halving the intake manifold, the bottom section remaining fixed to the motor, while the top section is bolted and unbolted easily to match whatever mods make it into the engine. Current product offerings from FAST include runner kits for Standard/High HP/Race models, intake manifold assemblies for Standard/High HP/Race models, and finally a Master Intake Kit that includes the intake along with all three runner sets.
