PRI 2010: Peterson Fluid Systems New R4 WetVac Pump

Mike Morton of Peterson Fluid Systems was showing the latest offering from the ground breaking fluid systems company. The R4 oil pump has been extremely successful in the past year, but they wanted to push the boundary with a wet sump oil pump that would operate up to 18-19″ of vacuum.

[1]Morton says, “We have developed the replacement for the old style design. We have tested it in Europe with an engine builder that supplies engines for the Touring Series, and they claim that it has the lowest parasitic draw ever tested.”

There are no spec sheet on this pump yet, it’s not on the Peterson Fluid Systems website and it’s not in their catalog. According to Morton, “We just got the finished product two days ago. It’s that new.”

[2]Morton also told us that the pump features “teflon lined seals and bushings that help it get the parasitic draw down to a record low.”  Morton claimed that he drag was down about 95% over previous wet sump oil pumps.

The target date for the actual release to the market is slated for the first quarter of 2011.
