PRI 2010: Dyno Dynamics Upgraded Chassis Dynamometer

[1]A dynamometer is an essential tool for any tuning company, measuring the effects of various engine enhancements and tunes. Most dynamometers are quite large and heavy in size though, meaning that they often have to be installed in a fixed position and left there.

While that is fine and dandy most of the time, what if you want to bring a dynamometer to a car show or trade event? Transportation can be a problem. Dyno Dynamics [2], the leader of dyno technology in Australia, has developed a new, lightweight and portable dynamometer for two-wheel drive cars. Tipping the scales at just 1,800 pounds, it can be carried by most half-ton trucks with ease, making transportation a breeze. These multi-use dynos can rate cars up to 1,200 horsepower.

Dyno Dynamics has also upgraded their software this year to a Windows 7-based system. Those using the older dynos can still upgrade to this new software with ease. The electronics in the system have been upgraded as well, to pull even more information from modern automobiles. They even set up a dynamometer outside with a nice Corvette on it, letting people take test runs, and these dynos can be had in two or four-wheel drive configurations.
