Corey Metzler’s Supercharged C6 Corvette

Before you now is a beautiful blacked out 2007 C6/A6 Corvette belonging to Corey Metzler from Bradenton, FL.
Metzler has limited use of his left ankle, so deciding on the A6 came down to the fact that the paddle shifter equipped A6 makes up for not having a clutch. Metzler doesn’t have any problems working the go fast pedal.

Enlisting the help of RevXtreme, based out of Bradenton, Metzler planned to turn a brand new bone stock LS2 into a highway rolling, tire smoking beast. After meeting with the staff at RevXtreme, it was decided that forced induction was the way to go to accomplish his goals. Soon after, they pulled off the motor and drivetrain and commenced preparations for a complete rebuild from the ground up.

LS2 Pulled for Building

Starting with the motor, they put in a Callies Compstar forged stroker crank and rods, along with Wiseco forged pistons matched with a custom ground FI camshaft (proprietary profile 114LSA). The stock oil pump was retained, but deburred and blueprinted, while ARP 2000 studs and fasteners were used throughout. The 342 cylinder heads were sent out to VMax’s Pete Incaudo for porting, and the throttle body also received Pete’s unique CNC spiral port. A FAST 90mm intake manifold was installed to complete the ultimate airflow combo.

To keep the motor from getting thirsty, 60 pound fuel injectors supplied by FIC were matched to custom billet hi-flow fuel rails. To supply the fuel, dual Walboro 255lph in-tank pumps were used, along with an Aeromotive inline fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator, using -8 feed & -6 return lines as the straws. Being somewhat of a boost junkie, Metzler chose a Procharger D1 from ATI as his main source of power. Driven by a 4.5” pulley, the D1 produces a mere nine pounds of boost. The smaller than stock RevXtreme aftermarket billet pulleys replaced the stock alternator, tensioner, and power steering, for both form and function.

A RevXtreme custom PCV system, integrating their unique oil separating catch can and one-way check valves, allows crankcase evacuation via the intake vacuum while not in boost. The check valves, which automatically switch to the head unit intake for suction while in boost, create positive intake pressure, allowing proper crankcase evacuation at all times. To help the motor’s lungs breathe with all this incoming air, the motor was paired with ceramic coated DynaTech Supermaxx long tube headers, DMH low profile electric cutouts (for those late night high speed runs), and a complete 3” Magnaflow Z06 cat-back exhaust setup.

The Drivetrain

The transmission was disassembled and built to RevXtreme Level III specs with the use of an 1800 FTI billet converter. Four custom located B&M plate and fin coolers were used to keep the transmission cool at all times, whether on the highway or at twisty tracks. One unit is mounted up front for direct cooling, while three are stationed in the rear (two tucked in the corner of the bumpers, while one sits under the hatch compartment), catching every bit of moving air.

The Remaining Goodies

A set of Z06 big brakes were installed to bring this car to a complete stop from any speed. Additionally, Metzler chose a set of Ace Alloy “Slick” wheels with wider BFG KDW2 tires that sit flush with body lines to keep it planted to the ground (most of the time).

Moving to the interior of this monster, you’ll find that Metzler didn’t stop at improving the power. A set of ’06 Dodge Viper seats were installed with a custom RevXtreme chromoly hard bar, and the driver is secured to his seat with a Go Pro 3” 5 pt. cam-lock race harness. This combination keeps the driver planted down while pushing through the twists, either on the course or on a country drive. To keep everything in check, an Autometer triple gauge pillar pod was mated with Autometer Cobalt series gauges (boost/vac, fuel pressure, wideband).

To make the ride more enjoyable, a custom A/V system composed of a Pioneer DVD radio along with Boston Acoustic speakers was installed. Finally, bringing this beauty to Darth Vader status is RPI Designs black out kit,
powder coated wheels, and an RKS ram air hood.

Strapped Down on the Dyno

In order to turn this machine into a very streetable and daily driver combination, Metzler had RevXtreme, along with Mike Norris from Orlando based Norris Motorsports, dig deep into the computer and work their magic. The results? A daily driven monster with over 600 to the wheels, that can still get 30+ mpg cruising down the interstate with the A/C & cruise on, while jamming out to your favorite tunes.
