What would a perfect quarter-mile pass look like to you? That could be a tough question to answer, and might depend on a lot of different factors – but in this video from the recent Chevrolet Performance Parts LSX Shootout, we get a look at what could arguably be the most perfect pass for the LSX Drag Radial class to date.
Mark Carlyle and his famous Atomic-Orange Corvette Z06 managed to put it all together in their semifinal match up against Andy Essary, and posted both the lowest E.T. and highest MPH ever for the LSX Drag Radial Class. After nailing an impossibly-hard launch, Carlyle stopped the clock at 6.99 at 209 MPH (NMCA reports the MPH as 211). Even though Carlyle would go on to lose in the final to Mark Brown, the very first sub-7 second LSX Drag Radial competition pass is quite an accomplishment.
This incredible pass was made possible by the 440 cubic inch LS powerplant, which is based off of Dart’s Billet LS Block. Those big cubes and two 88mm Garrets combine to create somewhere north of 1,400 horsepower at the rear wheels. This is a relatively new combo for “Atomic Fusion”, and we look forward to seeing just how far Carlyle can push this beast in the future.
