After taking the win in the American Le Mans Series opener at Sebring, Corvette Racing dropped to a 4-5 finish at Long Beach just last month. Corvette Racing finished 4th and 5th in the Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach, and unofficially shares the top spot in Manufacturer Standings with BMW at 34 points. Looks to be a good start to the season on the heels of a first-place finish at Sebring for the No. 4 car.

Corvette has not won the American Le Mans Series GT class at Florida’s 12-hour Sebring since 2009. This year, however, America’s sports car pulled ahead of Risi Competizione’s 458 Italia in the race’s final 13 minutes. Corvette Racing went into the July 7th American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park with the hopes of better luck than they had at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and that’s exactly what they got for the full 2 hours and 45 minutes of racing Saturday, finishing in respectable 2nd and 3rd-place positions.

With Corvette Racing having a stellar start to their season, no one could have expected the less than ideal finishing places the team ended up with at the 80th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend. On Saturday, drivers competed in the EMCO Gears Classic at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Chevrolet once again proved itself to be a heavy hitter with the Corvette Daytona Prototype, taking the first and third place podium positions at the end of the race. This event marks the fifth win for the Corvette DP.

The team’s race to the 24-hour mark was cut short when, according to a Google-translated Jan Magnussen press article off of Magnussen’s website, with just 25 minutes left in the race, the HARIBO Corvette engine died with the Dane driving. At that time, the Corvette team was sitting in 16th place.
